Lucius McDowell

Lucius McDowell grew up in Albany, Ga, where his love for music began at an early age. He was baptized at the age of 7 and immediately began singing in the children’s choir at The Greater Third Kiokee Baptist Church. He was not only a singer but he was a gifted orator. At an early age, he mesmerized audiences as he was a featured speaker in many denominations. All who ever experienced his ministry knew that God hands was on his life.

Lucius McDowell developed into a phenomenal musician by studying classical piano under the tutelage of Sybil Thomas in Albany, GA. He later played Trombone where he was first chair all throughout his middle school and high school years. Lucius participated faithfully in marching, concert, and jazz bands spilling over to his college days at Morris Brown College. He marched in the infamous “Morris Brown College Marching Wolverine Band” where he experienced music on another level. He was a member of the Morris Brown College Concert Choir where he was trained in choral music. During his tenure with the choir, he participated in the Concert Choir music recording along with touring throughout the US.

He graduated from Morris Brown College in 1985 with a B.S Business Management degree. Immediately after college, he worked for the Georgia’s Governor’s Office of Energy Resources of Resources where he was the Program Manager for the Institutional Conservation Program. He relocated to South Florida to continue his work in Emergency Management with the rebuilding of South Florida from the destruction of Hurricane Andrew. While working in the secular, he continued to serve in many capacities blessing many with his music ministry.

He later acknowledged his calling to the 5-Fold Ministry to teach the Body of Christ how to develop and maintain a personal relationship with God. He joined the ministerial staff at Faith Christian Center located in Smyrna, Georgia and served as a Minister of Music and Staff Minister under the leadership of Bishop Keith A. Butler. Pastor Lucius was an honor graduate from Word of Faith International Christian Center Bible Training Institute in 1998. He was ordained shortly thereafter.

In 1999, Lucius McDowell obeyed the prompting and directive from God and founded Agape International Ministries, Inc. Presently, the church is housed in a newly built facility and is located in Hampton, Georgia. Since inception, the church has provided diverse ministries to the community and to the membership. In 2006, Lucius McDowell became a certified trainer in Church Planting as he successfully completed requirement from Dynamic Church Planting International in Oceanside, California. In 2010, Lucius McDowell completed advance education and received the Master of Ministerial Leadership from Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Indiana. In 2011, Lucius McDowell embarked upon his first mission trip to Eastern Europe to minister the Gospel and to do missions ministry. He traveled to Athens to Milan, Italy to minister and to do missions to the Greek Island of Corfu on to Albania. He continued ministry in Mireka at Hope for the World Children's Home and finally to Tirana at the Stevens Center.

In 2012, Lucius McDowell released his freshman CD Project entitled "Prophetic Utterance" in the Christian marketplace. In the same year, Pastor McDowell appeared on several Christian television programs to include TBN in Akron, Ohio as well as on Atlanta TV 57. In 2014, he embarked on his second mission’s trip as he traveled to Uganda, Africa known as the "Pearl of Africa". While in Uganda, Lucius preached the Word of God and ministered as a Psalmist Day and night as many people received healing, inspiration, and encouragement.

In 2015, Lucius McDowell was appointed to serve as the Repatriation Coordinator for the Georgia Department of Human Services. While serving as the Repatriation Coordinator, he was responsible for overseeing the U.S. Repatriation Program that serves individuals, families, or mentally ill repatriates in need of assistance upon arrival to the United States for Emergency and Non-Emergency Repatriation activities to include U.S. Citizens being returned or brought from a foreign country. While serving as the Repatriation Coordinator he also served as the Interim Limited English Proficiency Sensory Impaired Manager as a subject matter expert regarding Title VI of the Civil Rights Act.

He released his second CD Project entitled “Through Him…” In the Winter of 2022. The project is a phenomenal music composition of 9 songs inspired by the Holy Spirit. Each song stresses the importance of the benefits that every born-again believer has been given. Lucius is married to Donna McDowell. They reside in McDonough, Georgia with their two lovely daughters, Zoe and Victoria. He and his family demonstrate their knowledge of Christ as well as the reward of life-giving service.
